I am finally back to work after our move and I am so excited. As we’ve settled into Hawaii life over the last 2 months, I have realized that word, Aloha, is everywhere, and used in multiple ways. But what exactly does it mean? Most people think Aloha means both hello and goodbye, but I’ve learned it’s so much more than that. The real meaning of Aloha in Hawaiian is that of love, affection, peace and compassion. My favorite definition states, “It is the guideline of how to live – a life with the ability to influence others around you with your spirit.”
Yes! The “Aloha Spirit” is why I was called to Styling Fireflies by the Holy Spirit. Styling Fireflies’ foundation is rooted in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” This verse commissions us to live a life that shines brightly for Christ so that we can positively influence others for His glory. C.S. Lewis said it best, “Don’t shine so other see you; shine so that through you, others can see Him.”
What does this have to do with style?
Styling Fireflies’ mission is to encourage woman in the practical, every day way of dressing so they are more confident in their abilities to positively influence others. As women, we hold an immense amount of power to influence those around us daily – our husband, children, neighbors, co-workers, friends, every person we meet. In order to be most effective, we have to start with ourselves. We must be at peace with our bodies, and trust that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by a God that does not make mistakes. Then, we dress in a manner that accentuates our beauty. We wear styles that reveal our dignity, colors that compliment our natural beauty, therefore, making us more confident to shine bright for others to see so we are willing to share our hearts.
Let your light shine,
